Master Carlos Gracie Jr., founder of Gracie Barra, will be joining Gracie Barra Orlando November 17th for a seminar. The seminar is open to all, and everyone is invited. Gracie Barra Orlando's Mikey Gomez and Bruce Connors both won their fights this past weekend, Saturday October 27th. Mikey won his fight by a split decision and Bruce won his fight via a guillotine choke in the first round. Congratulations to both fighters. Keep up the great work and continue to train hard!

Gracie Barra Orlando's Police and Fire Fighter Team competed in the annual Police and Fire Fighter Olympic Games. This was the first year that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, both gi and no-gi was offered as an event. The Games had a great turn-out with more than 60 competitors. Our Police and Fire Fighter Team competed and brought home 11 gold medals, 5 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal. Awesome job guys, keep up the great work!
Gracie Barra Orlando's Paul Marfort spent this past weekend in Holland where he competed in a professional Muay Thai fight. Paul was so well prepared that he was able to defeat a very tough opponent from Holland. Way to go Paul, Keep training hard!
Gracie Barra Orlando celebrated the grand opening of the new Sandlake Academy by hosting a seminar featuring Gabriel "The Cro Cop Killer" Gonzaga this past Saturday, June 2nd. Napao showed a bunch of great techniques and even grappled with the students at the end of the seminar. Gracie Barra Orlando thanks Gabriel for coming and spending his time with us. Gustavo 'Gutty' Muggiati just got back from teaching a seminar at his academy in Curitiba, Brazil. While there he celebrated ten years of Gracie Barra Curitiba Team Gutty
On Saturday May 12th Gracie Barra Orlando's Paul Marfort won a unanimous decision. Paul fought a full Muay Thai fight with knees and elbows. Way to go Paul, keep up the good work! The entire show can be ordered by going to MKM Knockout Promotions.
Gracie Barra Orlando's Downtown Academy will be adding more classes for its students, There will now be Muay Thai classes available Tuesday and Thursday from 12:00pm until 1:00pm. We will also be offering an All Levels Jiu-Jitsu class Friday from 11:00am until 12:00pm and again in the evening from 6:30pm until 7:30pm.

Saturday December 9th, the guns were going off and the paintballs were flyin' at Orlando Paintball. For those who weren't able to make it out, you missed a great event. On Thursday November 2nd, Gracie Barra Orlando celebrated its 12th anniversay with the first annual Black Belt dinner at Texas de Brazil. Four students were awarded their Black Belts. Congratulations to Gregg Thompson, Adam Golden, Rafael Borges, and Brian Bombinski! Keep up the good work.

SANDLAKE LOCATION will be adding a "no-gi" Jiu-Jitsu class to the schedule. It will replace the fundamentals class on Fridays nights at 7:30p.m.
Everyone is more than welcome to come and try the "no-gi" Jiu-Jitsu class starting on January 16, 2009.
Frank Sharipov a Gracie Barra Orlando fighter had a big MMA win on Jan 24, 2009 against a tough opponent from American Top Team Reynaldo 'REYZINHO' Duarte, winning by unanimous decision. Reyzinho started very aggressive on the first round with kicks and punches, but on the second round Frank changed the course of fight with a big right hand that landed on Reyzinho and he almost got knocked out. After that Frank took over the fight and won by unanimous decision.

Every one will be at UCF Arena for the CAGE WARRIORS FIGHTING supporting Kevin Abrante, Jim Alers and Daniel Lovett, who will be fighting in the event.
It’s with great sadness that GRACIE BARRA ORLANDO informs that great Master Hélio Gracie, the creator of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu along his brother Carlos Gracie, who had completed 95 years old in 2008, has passed away this morning in his house at Itaipava, Rio de Janeiro. Father of some of the best fighters in the Jiu-Jitsu and MMA history, like Rickson, Rorion, Royce, Rolker and Relson, Hélio’s funeral will be today, at 5p.m..

More than 60 students tested for belt successfuly this last Saturday Jan 31, 2009 .
Congratulations to all students that got promoted and also Rodrigo Costa for earning his Black Belt after fourteen years of hard training.

Congratulations to all Gracie Barra Orlando Students that competed at Abu Dhabi try outs, WELL DONE GUYS. Also congratulations to PEDRO TORRES who won his division and also won the blue belt absolute division. Pedro Torres was certainly the event's hero! After winning his division (4 fights), also won the absolute again fighting 4 more times, facing a seasoned opponent (guy who has fought pro MMA, and was in the UFC house), twice his size who kept doing illegal neck cranks and finally injured the champ with an illegal heel twist. Pedro now is going to compete in Abu Dhabi on April 30th to May 2, and he will represent Gracie Barra Orlando and bring home the gold medal again.

Congratulations to Pedro Torres who won the World Professional jiu jitsu cup in Abu Dhabi on May 1ST and 2ND. Pedro and another 5 guys were representing the US on the tournament and Pedro was the only one to bring the gold medal to US and of course to GRACIE BARRA ORLANDO, he won the light blue belt division. Pedro fought 6 times, finishing 5 of those fights with submissions and his last match he wont by 13 - 0!
So CONGRATULATIONS again from all GRACIE BARRA ORLANDO and keep up the good work and the hard training for your next competition.
GRACIE BARRA ORLANDO happily announces that Jim is qualified to Abu Dhabi world pro after winning all his fights as purple belt in the Black Belt Division. Also congratulations to Frank Sharipov for his great performance competing as well in the black belt division.
